Accurate, versatile tracking from within the Quantel toolset

Imagineer Systems' mocha Planar Tracker is fully integrated into the Quantel color and finishing toolset. mocha is widely recognized as the most versatile and precise tracker available, and is the perfect partner to Quantel's integrated point-based tracker. The mocha Planar Tracker is a standard feature in V5 software.

The mocha tracker engine is built into the multilayer timeline. It is designed to track an area as determined by the active shape from any effects module, or as defined from within the tracker itself. The mocha tracker has many potential applications, with the most common being the defining and tracking of an area within a clip for color correction. It differs from the point-based tracker in that the whole area bounded by all the points is the area of tracking interest, rather than simply points and their target areas.

For example, if a face in a shot needs brightening up, the colorist draws a curved shape around the face by defining a series of connected points, then selects mocha with one touch which simply tracks the face throughout the clip. A mask is automatically generated, through which the color change can be applied.

mocha offers a range of sophisticated tracking options - scale, rotation, shear and perspective, achieving great results on complex tracks where the subject is moving in two and three dimensions.

The mocha menu offers greatly increased flexibility for creating and modifying tracking data, and also has much tighter integration with tracker-aware menus such as key/garbage, graphics, DVE, Quantel plug-ins, color and blur shapes, greatly enhancing workflow.
