Final Cut Pro on Quantel

The same great Quantel workflow but now with Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro editors can be totally integrated into the Quantel sQ workflow in exactly the same way as Quantel's own editors via the Quantel Final Cut Pro Gateway. All the usual Quantel workflow benefits and speed to playout are available, but with Final Cut Pro - there are no compromises. To see a video demo of Final Cut Pro on Quantel, click here.

Fastest workflow

Final Cut Pro on Quantel has the fastest, most comprehensive workflow in the industry:

  • Ability to edit expanding clips on Final Cut Pro - editing of clips that are still being recorded
  • Finished edits are published instantly - edits can be played out the second they are finished
  • Delta publishing - only new frames created on Final Cut Pro are moved to the sQ server; a big time-saver
  • Save Final Cut Projects on sQ for completion later or in another Final Cut suite
  • Review edits published from Final Cut Pro on Quantel Low Bit Rate editors
  • Final Cut Pro can finish projects started on the journalist desktop with Quantel Low Bit Rate editors
  • Automatic protection against deleting the frames used in FCP edits when rushes are deleted

 No wasted time or space

The Final Cut Pro Gateway takes advantage of Quantel's Virtualisation technology to make all assets on the Quantel sQ server appear as QuickTime files to the connected Final Cut Pro system. In fact the QuickTime files do not actually exist on the sQ Server, nor does time and space need to be wasted making and storing them, but thanks to Virtualisation they are created on the fly as they are accessed by Final Cut Pro.

Enlarged talent pool

This development enables Quantel sQ system owners to tap into the large talent pool of Final Cut Pro editors while still enjoying the industry-leading speed and flexibility of the sQ broadcast workflow.
