Quantel RED Workflow

Quantel systems include tools for working with the .r3d files produced by the RED camera.

The tools are available now for eQ, iQ, Sid, QEffects and Pablo systems and are free of charge for customers running V4 software.  Both manual loading and automated conform of .r3D files are supported.  Here's the headlines:

• Preview the r3d file before importing on the GUI and on the calibrated main output
• Import only part of the file - set in and out points and import between them
• Make full use of all the RED options including exposure, colorspace, color temperature and more
• Autoconform direct from .r3d files using layer and effects metadata from FCP

The new conform capability makes conforming .r3d files as simple as conforming from DPX or video.

• No intermediate DPX stage  - saves time and disk space
• AAF conform from FCP with multi-layer and effects metadata  - saves time in finishing
• Conform to 4K, 2K, HD or SD resolution
• Quickest route to viewing full quality images - more time to be creative
• Similar workflow to Film and video shot material - operator familiarity means more throughput

The RED importer makes full use of all the CPU power available in your Quantel system and on the latest 8 core configuration delivers the following typical performance:

Import 4K as 4K	2.8 Frames/sec
Import 4K as 2K	8 Frames/sec
