Quantel launches V4 software for post systems at NAB
Step change in toolsets and workflow biggest since launch of generationQ
NAB, Las Vegas, NV, 13th April 2008: Quantel introduced V4 at NAB - a wide-ranging upgrade for eQ, iQ and Pablo that provides a brand new ergonomic interface, many new tools and significant workflow enhancements.
Here are the V4 for post headlines:
Resolution co-existent multilayer timeline
At the heart of V4 is the world’s first resolution co-existent multilayer timeline, making effects editing fast and flexible. Clips of different resolutions can be edited on the same or different layers without restriction or rendering - saving time, disk space and maximizing quality for every different version required.
Project interchange with Final Cut Pro
Enhanced AAF metadata support in V4 enables offline projects from Final Cut Pro to be fully conformed, including transitions, DVE effects, layer opacity and text. The off-line interchange uses the open and non-proprietary AAF format, compatible with both Apple and Avid editing systems. This class-leading facility means Quantel editors don’t need to waste any time rebuilding – leaving much more opportunity for finessing the conformed result to just what the client wants.
MME
V4 enables Quantel’s new MME (Multiple Media Engine) technology, which allows up to five Media Engines to boost rendering speed on color correction by up to a massive 500%. MME also brings more flexible operation by enabling media engines to be assigned to foreground or background rendering. MME helps the Quantel owner get the whole job done much more quickly and efficiently, all without previews or proxies.
Support for multiple new formats
V4 brings support for 1080P (50 and 60), double speed HD ingest and stereo3D ingest – dramatically extending the range of work the Quantel-equipped post house can tackle. See separate release (Quantel – new format support) for further details.
And more…
V4 also includes a host of other new capabilities including support for the Neo color control panel for Pablo (see separate release: Quantel – Neo for Pablo), the P2 essence driver and enables many of the new developments in Genetic Engineering such as 3D LUT burn-in, TIFF virtualization, Remote i/o, Archive and Distribute: see separate release (Quantel – Genetic Engineering new features).
“The V4 release provides a step-change in functionality and productivity for all our post systems,” said Quantel Director of Marketing, Steve Owen. “It’s the richest release for eQ, iQ and Pablo since the launch of generationQ several years ago, and not only does it give a big boost to the systems’ capabilities and enhance the user interface, it also provides a new platform that will be a springboard for many more exciting developments in future.”
V4 software will be released to owners of eQ, iQ and Pablo systems at the end of April 2008. It is certain to be a hit with Quantel owners – indeed, more than 100 customers have already pre-ordered the upgrade so that they can be up and running as soon as it is released.
