Quantel eQ FX Churns Out HD Spots At Long Island’s CBC Media

First eQ FX on the Island, Core Post Tool For 20-year old do-it-all Media Company

Washington DC, USA, 12 July 2007: CBC Media of Islandia, New York, has been working around the clock with its recently purchased, all inclusive Quantel eQ FX for such corporate and retail clients as P. C. Richard and Son, Nike and Getty Images.

The eQ FX is designed specifically for post and broadcast users, covering every demand in HD and multi-resolution post production. The resolution co-existent eQ FX comes complete with 160 minutes of HD workspace; built-in TimeMagic™ no-wait hardware; the QColor in-context color grading package of software and dedicated controls and a choice of comprehensive plug-in packages—all on deck for CBC.



CBC Media is a fully integrated advertising, marketing, production, post production, Internet and networking company, with a diverse clientele consisting of retail, educational, medical, legal, corporate, government and not-for-profit organizations.

The company has built its post production division around the eQ FX utilizing it not only for finishing and effects but also as its sole offline and graphics system. “From day one the eQ FX was a quality product,” said Madjid Ebadi, founder of CBC Media. “We’re at the forefront of our industry and Quantel makes that possible. The system is fast, robust, user friendly and we’re making money on it.”

According to Sr. Editor, Brad Wensley, CBC Media churns out nearly 100 HD spots a year for P. C. Richard & Son, one of New York City’s largest and oldest family owned and operated appliance, electronics and computer stores. Like many of its retail clients, CBC Media operates as the client’s agency of record performing production, audio, postproduction duties and often times builds web sites and provides web hosting services.

All of P. C. Richard & Son commercials are shot on the Sony F-900 HD camera and ingested into the eQ FX where the editing and compositing is completed in HD resolution.

“Our commercials consist of 30-50 layers of animation and effects,” said Wensley. “We do a lot of compositing and a lot of shines and particle effects with plug-in filters. The speed of the eQ FX is awesome but what sold me was its ability to build the commercial and then bring it back a month later and simply replace two or three layers very easily or change some elements without messing up the whole project.”
