Televisión Española purchase six eQ finishing systems
Spanish public broadcaster chooses Quantel for its news and program post needs
Madrid, Spain, 14 March 2008: Televisión Española (TVE) has ordered six eQ editing/ effects/ color grading/ deliverables systems from Quantel. Five of the new systems will be installed at TVE’s Madrid facilities; three for the news department at Torrespaña and two at TVE’s Prado del Rey studios for mainstream program post production operations. The sixth eQ will go to TVE’s Sant Cugat office in Catalonia, covering both news and program post production.
Alongside their news and program post production duties, the eQs will also be heavily employed for promotions and titles work, which TVE is bringing in-house to coincide with the arrival of the eQs.
Enrique Cotillas, who manages the Sudirección de Diseño (Design Division) at TVE, commented: “Our relationship with Quantel dates back many years, our operators have used Paintbox and Hal, and now when we need to renew our equipment, the eQ is the natural option for us, not only because it is very simple for the operators to use it but also because of its versatility, speed and the confidence this system always offers.
“News in particular requires systems that are both highly productive and reliable,” Cotillas continues. “We need total certainty that every job will be completed on time and at the highest possible quality. The versatility of the eQ is also key to us, because these systems will be employed for many different kinds of work – particularly at our Sant Cugat studios where the eQ will have to be a master of all trades – and it’s the perfect machine for the job.”
